It will be a year next month since Kathy Griffin shared the photo that would begin a censorship feud with the Trump administration. The controversial shot, depicting the comedian holding up a severed head that bared a semblance to Trump, was picked up by news agencies and websites around the world with people both defending and condemning the image.

After an all-out attack on Griffin’s character, with Trump citing trauma to his young children and government investigations, an apology was issued when it seemed the comedian was faced with a doomed career, having already been ousted from hosting events at CNN. A month later, Griffin found a new resolve and declared that she wasn’t afraid of Trump and the villain spin media outlets had put on her.

During a recent stop at The View, Griffin retracted her initial apology and detailed what happened to her after the photo was posted. “By the way, I take the apology back,” she began, “I’m not holding back on this family. This president is different and I have been through the mill.” She even laid into Trump’s adult sons, calling Don Jr. and Eric “Eddie Munster and Date Rape.”

Griffin went on to say how during the secret service investigation it was suspected she may be a member of ISIS and that she was also suspected of conspiracy to assassinate the president of the United States. She described her past year as having been through the “Trump wood chipper,” collectively naming the efforts to discredit her from numerous angles. “Eight years,” she says, sharing the length of time she was told to fly under the radar by crisis managers. Luckily for us, she just kept her head down for one. Watch, below.
