‘The Conners’ Prep For The Holidays In First Roseanne-less Clip

No mention is made of the family’s missing matriarch.

With its premiere date less than two weeks away ABC has finally shared the first clip of The Conners, the Roseanne revival spinoff minus its titular character.

Though the voiceover teases that “there’s one thing on everyone’s mind,” the clip quickly dives into flashes of the Conner family, mainly Aunt Jackie (Laurie Metcalf) and Darlene (Sara Gilbert), discussing the family’s plans for the upcoming holidays. “I say we follow the Conner tradition,” says Darlene, “spend every dime we have on Halloween and then we have nothing to be thankful for or buy gifts with.”

No mention is made of Roseanne’s absence in this first clip and though Roseanne Barr said her character would be killed off as the result of an opioid overdose, no official word has been given on how her character will exit the show. The disgraced Barr said she “begged” ABC to save the show and the jobs of the cast and crew following the racist tweet regarding Obama White House adviser Valerie Jarrett that spurred ABC to cancel the popular revival.
