Nothing but respect for my president.
Never let it be said that the Barack and Michelle Obama don’t know how to deliver some good side-eye.
It was under very broad terms that Netflix announced its partnership with the former president and first lady back in May, saying the pair would be producing “films and series for Netflix, potentially including scripted series, unscripted series, docu-series, documentaries, and features.” Now we know what their first project will be and it’s a not-so-subtle reminder on where they stand with the current administration.

According to Deadline, the Obamas will be adapting Michael Lewis’ latest book, The Fifth Risk, as a possible series to help viewers understand how the government functions on the inside. The book, which just hit shelves October 2, details the disorder in the departments of Energy, Agriculture, and Commerce wen the Obama administration handed things off to the Trump administration. The author first broke the news on an episode of Katie Couric's podcast set to air this Thursday, where more details will be revealed.
Lewis spoke with multiple federal employees who worked in those select departments under Obama and found that those coming in on behalf of Trump were unqualified. In one interview with John MacWilliams, who was the Energy Department’s very first chief risk officer, worries of a nuclear-weapons accident, potential conflict with North Korea or Iran, and an attack on the United States electrical grid are raised. MacWilliams also mentions an understaffing in the Commerce department that could lead to an inaccurate census and fears of cuts to anti-poverty programs like food stamps and school lunch programs.
