New Yorkers reacted with a bag of mixed emotions earlier this week when it was announced that Amazon had chosen the Long Island City neighborhood in Queens to build one of its two new headquarters. Locals complained that the new location, which will fill 25,000 jobs starting next year, will only have a negative impact on the traffic and commute times of the surrounding area and that, since Amazon is getting so many tax breaks, it won’t even help solve the public transportation issues it creates.

Last night Trevor Noah brought up the move on The Daily Show and had correspondent Jaboukie Young-White come in to pick apart the move in the exact way it needed: with millennial queer humor.

“Oh, it’s worse than bad,” the 24-year-old comedian said, when asked by Noah how he felt about the move. “It’s cliché.”

Young-White then put the global corporation in an age-appropriate analogy. “Amazon’s been around for 24 years and now they’re doing what any 24 year old does. What? Move to New York and gentrify a neighborhood.”

Noah counterpoints that 25,000 new jobs sounds great for New York City, but Young-White points out that those hires won’t be locals, they’ll be brought in by the company. “That’s just what New York needs: another 25,000 tech bros suckin’ down green juice on the 7 train. Do you have any idea how crowded the subway is gonna get? It’s already a non-consensual clothes-on orgy. I literally don’t’ know where my backpack starts and that dude’s but begins.”

Young-White tells Noah that there’s still time to make a change and hit the streets in protest of the plan. Then, with a snarky stab at the protest mentality of some people (think the people who buy Starbucks to protest Starbucks), he has his “Boycott Amazon” sign delivered from Amazon itself.
