When the queens finish filming RuPaul’s Drag Race, they don’t always know who actually won. Each of the final contestants walk and film their own respective acceptance moments, and find out the actual winner when the show airs. It’s why we sometimes get an announcement with slightly botched voice overs like we did this season, with the herstoric double crowning, as well as reaction videos from queens as they watch the finale with their fans. (This season, Trinity the Tuck did not look so pleased.)

On Friday, after watching the finale, All Stars 4 winners Monet X Change and Trinity took a trip to the Theater at the Ace Hotel in Los Angeles for their actual crowning. It was not a Drag Race “event” but instead, was the second and final L.A. show on Grammy winner Kacey Musgraves’ Oh, What a World tour. Looks like the former guest judge is cashing in her status as an LGBTQ+ ally to become a certified queer icon. And we’re not mad!

“So if you’re here tonight it means, that you’re missing out on the season finale of All Stars season 4 of Drag Race,” the self-aware country singer said mid-song while performing her hit “High Horse.” “And I was lucky enough to go hang out with Ru and the queens this season. So tonight we have not one but two queens. Please welcome, newly crowned Monet X Change and Trinity “the Tuck” Taylor.”  Musgraves then handed Trinity and Monet their scepters (the queens had come to the stage mid-speech already wearing their crowns).

“Y’all ready to giddy up?!”

The inclusion, no doubt shows just how integrated the show has become with the mainstream. Or maybe it was just Ru’s way to avoid pissed off fans. She truly is an artist.
