‘RuPaul’ will air for three weeks this summer on FOX affiliate networks.
Rose DommuRuPaul is returning to the format that first made him a TV star, bringing a new talk show to FOX this summer for a limited run.
According to a press release, RuPaul will bring the Drag Race judge back to his TV roots as a talk show host (The RuPaul Show debuted on VH1 in 1996 and ran for two seasons). “Entertaining and heartfelt in everything he does, the show will feature [RuPaul] Charles’ modern take on the talk format. He will showcase his aspirational message with celebrity and newsmaker interviews, along with empowering everyday people to become their best selves. His sense of beauty, make-up and style will make the runway work for everyone. Charles’ 20-plus years interviewing and coaching along with his own evolution in music, fashion, style and media will inspire audiences daily.”
“Now more than ever before we need a global voice that will help everyday people navigate this unique time in history,” says Charles, per FOX’s release. “Not only do I want to be a part of that conversation, I want to help facilitate it.”
FOX’s Executive Vice President of programming Frank Cicha, adds that “part of the appeal of doing limited series is the freedom it allows to try something really different. That’s this show.”
RuPaul isn’t the only queen with a talk show on the way: The Courtney Act Show, starring the Drag Race favorite and Celebrity Big Brother winner, was announced last summer and will air on Channel 4 in the UK.
RuPaul will premiere on June 10 on select FOX-owned stations and run for three weeks. Is this truly a limited series or a test-run for a permanent show? Only time will tell.
