How many gay icons can you fit into one cast? FX is ready to test the boundaries.

The network announced today that two-time Oscar winner Cate Blanchett has signed onto the nine-episode series Mrs. America, the story of the fight to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment. Blanchett will play Phyllis Schlafly, a conservative woman who leads the backlash against the amendment — we stan a villain with internalized misogyny! The series is set to debut in 2020.

Blanchett will join Uzo Aduba, who will play Shirley Chisholm, America’s first Black congresswoman and the first Black candidate to run for president from a major political party. Rose Byrne will play feminist icon Gloria Steinem, and Sarah Paulson will play a fictional character who is Blanchett’s best friend.

But that’s not all: For a Good Time Call’s Ari Graynor plays Harvard-educated feminist lawyer Brenda Feigen-Fasteau and Margo Martindale plays feminist activist and congresswoman Bella Abzug.

Joining them will be James Marsden as conservative congressman Phil Crane, John Slattery as Phyllis’ husband Fred Schlafly and Tracey Ullman will play The Feminine Mystique author Betty Friedan. Also, Melanie Lynskey, Jeanne Tripplehorn, and Kayli Carter will appear.

Mrs. Americais written and executive produced by Davhi Waller, who previously wrote for Mad Men and Desperate Housewives.

Between this, Pose, and other Ryan Murphy programming, FX really is the ultimate queer ally.
