Vanderpump apologized to the LGBTQ+ community for a comment she made on ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.’
TelevisionRose DommuReal Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Vanderpump has come under fire for a transphobic “joke” she made during Tuesday’s episode, forcing her to apologize and claim that she’s a staunch supporter of the LGBTQ+ community.
If you’ve been keeping up with RHOBH, you’ll know that OG housewife Vanderpump has had a season-long beef with her co-stars about a dog that her former friend Dorit Kemsley adopted from her rescue center, Vanderpump Dogs, and then promptly dropped off at a shelter after the dog bit one of her children and her husband. The dog drama has been dragged out for far too long, creating a divide between Vanderpump and the rest of the housewives, specifically Kemsley and Kyle Richards., who accused Vanderpump of leaking the story to a celebrity gossip outlet.
In this week’s episode, Vanderpump visited a lie detector operator to have her name cleared, and joked that she hoped he didn’t ask her if co-star Erika Jayne was “tucking or something like that because there are some things I can’t lie about.”
Following an outcry on social media, Vanderpump apologized to Page Six, saying it wasn’t her “intention to belittle the trans community with my poor choice of words directed toward Erika. I have nothing but respect and love for trans people around the world, as I have been a staunch supporter, provided employment, offered emotional support, and championed LGBTQ issues.” Because a great way to apologize for offending a marginalized community is to remind them of all the work you’ve done for them!
“With recent news of trans women losing their lives for living their authentic truth in a world of discrimination and hate, I never want to diminish the very real pain and struggle that trans people go through every day,” Vanderpump added.
Jayne has yet to respond, although she did retweet trans icon Candis Cayne’s reaction.

Vanderpump’s co-star Lisa Rinna tweeted doing the episode: “Who knew Lvp was transphobic? Well, we know NOW! #LBGTQ.” A true ally!
