That’s gonna be one horny house.
Rose DommuMTV’s long-running dating show Are You the One? Is returning this summer with a very queer twist: for the first time, the cast will be made up entirely of “sexually fluid” singles down to clown with anyone and everyone. A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila, you have met your match!
Over 10 weeks, the singles will travel to an island paradise and compete to find their soulmate. If a couple finds love, they’ll split a $1 million cash prize. According to MTV’s announcement, host Terrence J will return and the new season “will also feature Dr. Frankie, a relationship expert who specializes in working with the LGBTQ+ community. Dr. Frankie will work with the singles to help them become better daters and navigate between drama, poor choices and recurring patterns in relationships. In addition, Terrence will work with the love hopefuls like never before, coaching and guiding them to tap into their true feelings and follow their hearts.”
The cast of 16 singles includes 27-year-old Remy Duran, aka the most catfished man on Grindr.
MTV’s announcement doesn’t clarify how, exactly, each cast member specifically identifies. Sexual fluidity is simply when one's sexual orientation changes at any given time, and how fluid a person can be varies in degrees. (Some people are highly fluid, while others are less so.) In recent years, dating shows like The Bi Life and Netflix’s Dating Around have finally started to embrace queer romance, but it seems like Are You the One? has the chance to educate MTV’s young audience on the spectrum of sexual identity.
Are You the One? premieres on MTV June 26.
