Here's the new American Horror Story Cast, in its horror flick-inspired glory.
Harron WalkerIn an interview with Out executive editor Raquel Willis following her final episode of Pose, Angelica Ross teased that she had some “big projects” in the works. After keeping us on our toes for a solid, uh, 24 hours, the actress revealed what one of those projects was on Wednesday, announcing that she’d been casting on the new season of Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story, premiering this fall.
On Thursday, we got our first look at Ross’ character on the upcoming ninth season of American Horror Story: 1984, which Variety says is “inspired by classic slasher films.” Judging by the whole ‘80s summer camp vibe seen in the promotional videos below — shared Thursday on Twitter and Instagram — I’d say we’ll see a lot of Friday the 13th and Sleepaway Camp in this upcoming season of the FX horror anthology series.

Not to tangent too hard, but speaking of Sleepaway Camp, do you know what Sleepaway Camp is? It’s a slasher movie trilogy (well, there’s technically an unfinished fourth installment in the series, but…) from the ‘80s that takes place at summer camp and features a teenage transsexual killer named Angela whose transness is revealed in some big plot twist at the end of the first. I know. Super problematic. Whatever. I’ve had a soft spot for the series since I was 17, so I wonder if Murphy might try to incorporate elements of Sleepaway Camp into this season of AHS— as long as he somehow subverts all of the Silence of the Lambs-style “transsexual serial killer” transmisogyny, of course.
Anyway! Check out the cast in the videos above. While they’re not all featured in the promo clips, the AHS cast this year includes DeRon Horton, Billie Lourd, Cody Fern, Leslie Grossman, Matthew Morrison, John Carroll Lynch, Zach Villa, Emma Roberts, Gus Kenworthy, and Ross — who’s now the first trans actor ever to secure two series regular roles (!!!!).
