The 'AHS' favorite says she "may pop up" in a new interview.
Rose DommuAmerican Horror Storystans wept bloody tears when we learned that Sarah Paulson would be sitting out the newest season of Ryan Murphy’s horror anthology, but the show’s most well-known star may have just given us reason to hope for a cameo in AHS: 1984.
In April, Paulson told the science-fiction network Syfy she did’t know whether she’d be returning for the upcoming season. “I think… all I can say is I know the least about this season upcoming that I’ve known about any season,” she said at the time.
With Evan Peters also sitting the season out, and the various teasers focusing on the newer castmembers, it seemed like AHS would forge on without the stars who had been there since day one. But in a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, Paulson said it was “bittersweet” to not be involved this go around.
“I have a lot of friends who are still on the show,” she said. “So I’m getting updates about how it’s all going and what they’re doing, and I’m like, ‘Wait, what? You worked until two? Oh, I remember working until two on that show.’”
Paulson said she’s “very glad that I can wake up at a decent hour because I’m not cross-eyed from having worked insane nights.”
But long, spooky night shoots aside, the actress added that “it'll be hard” to watch from the sidelines, but that she’ll be “cheering everybody on.” She added, “I'm really excited for this season. I think it's a really cool idea for the show this year.”
And, little minx that she is, Paulson couldn’t resist teasing us. “And you never know, I may pop up. You never know. No promises though.” Now we just need Gaga to come back and we’re set.
