Jamie Lee Curtis, Emma Roberts, and Lea Michele are all in.
ryan murphyMey RudeGood morning, bitches! Hold onto your panties because our favorite killer sorority sisters might be coming back to a screen near us. In an interview with Deadline, American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy said that he would love to bring the fan-favorite dark comedy slasher series back for another season.
Murphy also says that the cast is fully on board. “Emma [Roberts] said she would do it, Lea Michelle said she would do it, Jamie Lee Curtis, Abigail Breslin, Billie Lourd are all in,” he told the entertainment website. I, for one, would love to see the cast all together in their designer miniskirts and heels one more time.
But according to Murphy, he’s not the one who will ultimately make the decision. “I would have to say that the answer to that lies in the studio who made it,” he said, referring to the fact that he now has an exclusive deal with Netflix, and the show first aired on Fox. “I’d be up for it,” he continued. “The fans should write Fox and say they want this, Fox Studios and the network.”
Early last year, Netflix signed Murphy to a multiyear $300 million deal. He’s already produced the original series The Politician for the streamer and has other projects in the works like Ratched, with Sarah Paulson playing the iconic One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest character, and two stage adaptations, The Prom and The Boys in the Band.
Scream Queens was Murphy’s second foray into the horror genre, this time sticking to the reality-based teen slasher genre (with more than a dash of Heathers thrown in). The show, which was cancelled after two seasons, followed the girls of the Kappa Kappa Tau sorority as they come under attack from a serial killer. The show received mixed reviews from critics but found a committed fanbase thanks to its strong performances, campy writing, and its characters’ killer fashion sense.
We need to all start praying to the Chanels that we get to see more of our favorite terrified sorority sisters in action.
