Plus, he and his father are hosting 'The Ellen Show' and want your questions.
Mikelle StreetThough Schitt’s Creek has done a lot for us — the laughs, my god the laughs, — it has also provided a vehicle for new talent. In addition to given some actors some of their first shots, it also provided a vehicle for show creator Dan Levy to really show his chops. Now, with the premiere of season 6, the showrunner has directed his first episode by himself.
In a recent New York Times feature, it was revealed that while the writing the show started as a collaborative project between Dan and his father Eugene Levy, over time, things shifted. That change happens around season three, coincidentally when the show hit its stride (for us, at least.)
Now, Dan is revealing that he got his solo directing debut as well.
“Last night was the first [episode] I directed solo,” he wrote to Instagram. “Thanks to our great team for the support and encouragement! Also, I only did it so that I could get one of these ‘director directing shots.’” For American viewers, the episode can be streamed on Hulu now.
For fans ravenous for another sight of the Levy family prior to the show's next episode, you're in luck: Dan and Eugene Levy will guest host an episode of The Ellen Show.
"The hillarious Eugene Levy and Dan Levy from Schitt's Creek will be guest hostin gmy show, and they wanna answer your questions," the show's official account wrote to Twitter. "So if you need advice on anything — and I mean anything — reply here with your questions."
There have been over 800 responses so far, but hopefully someone asked about the eyebrows. How do we get those Levy genetics?!
