Lesbian icons Clea DuVall and Tegan and Sara Quin are teaming up with IMDb TV to bring us an all new teen comedy based on the bestselling memoir High School by the Quin sisters about their formative years. DuVall is executive producing alongside Tegan and Sara Quin, and will also write and direct for the series.

High School is a coming-of-age memoir written by the Grammy nominated Quin sisters about their time in, well, high school, figuring out who they each are and dreaming of a bigger life. Neither sister had to go through these turbulent years alone, though, as they both share the same queer identity, something that will be explored in the series. The book will be adapted into a TV comedy for IMDb TV, a free streaming service that comes with commercials.

According to Deadline, “through a backdrop of ’90s grunge and rave culture, the series tangles itself in the parallel and discordant memories of two sisters growing up down the hall from one another.” Get ready for this to be your new queer TV obsession.

After a long career as an iconinc lesbian actress in films and shows like But I'm a Cheerleader and Veep, DuVall has been busy behind the camera recently, writing and directing her second feature film, Happiest Season, a lesbian romantic comedy set at Christmas, and starring Kristin Stewart and Mackenzie Davis. Happiest Season is coming to Hulu on November 25. She is also co-creator and executive producer of the upcoming Fox animated show Housebroken.

Tegan and Sara have nine albums under their belts, including the Juno and GLAAD Award winning 2013 album Heartthrob. They were nominated for an Oscar for their song “Everything is Awesome” with The Lonely Island from The Lego Movie.

High School the book was published last year in September by Farrar, Straus and Giroux, and will be available in paperback on November 17.
