Revry's Versus is everything we want for the holidays.
David ArtaviaNothing says queer up the holidays more than a game of general knowledge questions with a lovable drag queen.
Today, the LGBTQ+ television network Revry is ringing in the season with the premiere of its new absurdist game show, Versus, hosted by RuPaul’s Drag Race season 5 special guest Deven Green and musician Ned Douglas.
Described as a mix of Wipeout and Billy on The Street, the show pits two contestants against each other in six rapid-fire challenges that test their trivia skills, memory, and knowledge of their own social media. Plus, because each episode delivers a new set of mini-games, each contestant is left totally unprepared — and of course hilarity ensues.
This season, contestants include Varla Jean Merman, The Q Agenda hosts Enrique Sapene and Lianna Carrera, On Mekahel, Christopher Saint, Cole Jenkins, Channel Q radio host Ryan Mitchell, and actor Matt Baume.
The charmingly zany setup puts players in random circumstances, whether it’s counting animated kittens or a testing their memory of strange objects passing in front of them on a virtual conveyer belt.
The best part? Hardly anyone is a sore loser. After all, how can you not smile if you win or lose to a question posed about a raw chicken that acts like Liza Minnelli?
