Mikelle StreetThe second season of Netflix's Specialis just over a month away and with it comes the show's end. Created by Ryan O'Connell, who also stars in the Emmy-nominated series, the show will put on a final slate of eight episodes at 30 minutes a piece. But, they are coming with new cast members.
According to a report in Deadline, O'Connell and the team have built out quite the team. Acting icon Leslie Jordan will appear in a guest-starring role for the season and there will also be additions like Ana Ortiz, Charlie Barnett, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Lauren Weedman, Anjali Bhimani, Ajay Mehta, and Karan Soni. They are all set to recur in various roles. But in addition, there will be two new queer characters.
For the second, according to the logline "Ryan really needs to get his shit together." In addition to getting over writer's block, he finds himself charmed by Tanner, "a fun, flirty dance instructor who charms Ryan despite not being totally available." Taner is set to be played by Jenkins and meets Ryan at a bar. He's a former backup dancer so we are expecting a few moves from him. Jenkins previously appeared in projects like Dead to Me, The Mysteries of Laura, and Social Distance.
In addition, there's Buck Andrews. Andrews will play Henry who "has high-functioning autism and exhibits stimming (repetitive, stimulating behavior)" according to Deadline. He is charismatic, comedic and becomes a close friend to Ryan as he introduces him into the world (and what we can only assume will be a community) of disability.
Special season two will debut May 20th.
