Dan Levy and Schitt’s Creek picked up two more awards at tonight’s Canadian Screen Awards, and all we can say is: go David!

The show won the award for Best Comedy, rounding out its great year. Instead of speeches, this year’s winners were asked questions about their show by the Academy.

“I think at the end of the day we just set out to make a show that made us laugh about people we wanted to root for,” Levy said about Schitt’s Creek. “And gave it a roll, and hoped for the best. And the fact that it had the success that it had, the fact that it’s now available in many languages around the world is simply the cherry on top of a really wonderful, small experience.”

The show also picked up an award for Catherine O’Hara in the Lead Actress category, something that has become a staple this award season (Moira’s favorite season).

Levy was also recognized for winning the 2020 Radius Award, recognizing special contributions to Canadian culture. In his speech, Levy thanked the cast and crew. “I would be remiss to accept an award of this kind without acknowledging the tremendous team of people who helped to get this show scene around the world," he said.

The show has already won awards at last night’s ceremonies in categories including Best Costume Design, Best Achievement in Hair, Best Achievement in Casting, Best Writing in a Comedy, and Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy award for Emily Hampshire. Levy and Andrew Cividino also picked up the award for Best Direction in a Comedy.

The Schitt’s Creek documentary special, Best Wishes, Warmest Regards, also won the award for Best Biography or Arts Documentary Program or Series.

Schitt’s Creek’s final season has been racking up awards all year, starting with the 2020 Emmys, where the show swept all the comedy acting categories, as well as Comedy Series, Directing, and Writing awards for Levy. The show won a total of nine awards that night.

Since then, they’ve also dominated at the Golden Globes, Critic’s Choice Awards, and Screen Actors Guild Awards.

With tonight and last night’s awards added in, the show has won over 90 major awards, with Levy himself getting about 20 awards for his acting, writing, directing, and producing.

Schitt’s Creek is leaving a legacy that will impact television and pop culture for years, and it will be a long time before we see another comedy as good as this one.
