Mey RudeEmma Corrin keeps on sharing more of themself with us, and we couldn’t be more honored.
The star of Netflix’s The Crown, who won a Golden Globe for playing Princess Diana on the fourth season of the show, has recently updated their pronouns on Instagram to she/they.
Not only that, but the 25-year-old actor also shared photos of them taken by artist David-Simon Dayan, wearing a homemade binder (compression garments often worn by trans and nonbinary people to alleviate chest dysphoria).
Corrin captioned the picture with, “some time before I bought my first binder, messing around with @sirdavidsimon, we used boxing wrap, thanks for capturing this with me, very intimate, very new, very cool.”
While they didn’t make any explicit statements about their identity, Corrin did add a little more. “It’s all a journey right,” she wrote. “Lots of twists and turns and change and that’s ok! Embrace it.”
Corrin also added a note at the end of the post, saying that they now use gc2b binders, a trans-owned company, and one of the most popular binder companies for trans and nonbinary people.
Of course, if you’re looking to bind, you should know that using tight materials such as Ace bandages or duct tape can be very dangerous and restrict your ability to breathe. The safest way to bind is to purchase a binder specifically designed for this purpose.
Corrin previously came out when she labeled herself “Ur fave queer bride” alongside images of her in a wedding dress for Pop.
She further opened up about past relationships with women when she appeared on the Vanity Fair Cocktail Hour Live and played a drinking game where she confessed to having kept a partner’s clothes to smell. “She did know, yes,” Corrin said about the former partner. “Um, yeah, but I think I'm a very smell-oriented person, and I could do it with jumpers. Jumpers is a good one.”
Corrin will next be starring opposite Harry Styles in My Policeman, a period drama about a bisexual police officer (Styles) who marries a woman (Corrin), only for his former male lover to reenter his life decades later. The film also stars Linus Roache, David Dawson, and Rupert Everett.
