Just in time for National Coming Out Day and after a whirlwind first season, Bob the Drag Queen, Eureka O’Hara, and Shangela are back for We’re Here season two!

The queens are here now, but for a minute, they wondered if they would be back. In 2020 while shooting the season one finale in Spartanburg, South Carolina, the world shut down due to the ongoing global pandemic. Production was scrapped and everyone went their separate ways. Almost a year later, the queens went back to Spartanburg to see their drag daughters and rally their allies around a spectacular drag show. And though the pandemic shut the queens down, it couldn’t keep them down for long!

Full of heart and spreading love across small-town America, the dolls make a poignant stop this season in Selma, Alabama to make a stand for Black Lives and queer love. In the border town of Del Rio, Texas the queens discover the town doesn’t have a queer bar, so their one-night-only drag show becomes a massive party to release years of pent-up tension. In eight episodes, We’re Here helps two dozen drag daughters express their genuine selves in front of their families, friends, and communities.

Out got the chance to speak to the masterminds behind the series, creators Stephen Warren and Johnnie Ingram...

...as well as the queens themselves, Bob the Drag Queen, Eureka O'Hara, and Shangela, to discuss the complications of shooting during a worldwide pandemic, and what it’s like to tell the stories of everyday queer people.

Season two of We're Here is now streaming on HBO Max, with new episodes premiering every Monday!
