It's gonna be a super summer!
TVGay SuperheroesMey RudeThe Boys are back in town this summer.
The premiere date for the upcoming third season of Amazon Prime’s gory superhero series The Boys was just announced, and we got our first glimpse at what the upcoming season will be like.
The teaser came at the end of one the latest episode of the web series Seven on 7 With Cameron Coleman, a fictional news show on the Vought News Network. The show is an obvious parody of Fox News shows, and has been giving glimpses into the show’s larger world.
The season 3 first look doesn’t give us much, but it does give us a hint at what the tone of the new season will be like. The promo shows Starlight (Erin Moriarty) and Homelander (Antony Starr) posing for pictures from the press as Homelander’s smile gets increasingly twisted.
After the new hero Stormfront was exposed as a nazi and defeated last season, superhero team The Seven was scrambling to find a new member. As rivalries within Vought and The Seven grew more tense, we also learned that there is another, possibly even more dangerous, super powered character with her own agenda: Congresswoman Victoria Neuman
Also last season, Queen Maeve, was being marketed as a lesbian superhero by Vought News, despite the fact that she actually identifies as bisexual. She was first outed by Homelander, and then made to act as a spokesperson for the LGBTQ+ community by her bosses, even starring in a movie where she comes out as a lesbian.
The new season of The Boys stars regulars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Laz Alonso, Dominique McElligott, Chase Crawford, Karen Fukuhara, and newcomer Jensen Ackles. Ackles will be playing Soldier Boy, a new twist on a Captain-America-style hero.
The first three episodes will premiere on Friday, June 3, with each following episode debuting on each Friday after that. The season finale will air July 8.
