We can't wait to watch!

After picking up nominations for a Satellite Award, Hollywood Critics Association Award, and Dorian Award for his role as Jonathan Larson’s best friend Michael in the movie musical tick, tick.. BOOM!, three-time Tony Award nominee Robin De Jesús has landed his next big role.
De Jesús has joined the cast of Hulu’s upcoming Chippendales series Immigrant. Now this is something we can't wait to see!
Immigrant is a series following the true story of Somen “Steve” Banerjee (Kumail Nanjiani), an Indian-American entrepreneur who started the famous male dance troupe Chippendales. According to Deadline, the series will show “the insane, darkly comedic, crime-ridden story behind the unique male revue that became a cultural phenomenon.”
De Jesús is going to be playing the recurring role of Ray Colon, a Nuyorican handyman from the Bronx who becomes the self-proclaimed jack of all trades for the Chippendales. Ray is described as affable and eager-to-please, and most of all, as revering Banerjee. As their friendship grows, Ray will be put in more than one compromising situation trying to help his boss.
The series has a cast packed with handsome actors, including Dan Stevens, Murray Bartlett (who was recently nominated for a SAG award for his role in The White Lotus), Quentin Plair, and Andrew Rannells. It also stars Annaleigh Ashford and Nicola Peltz.
Nanjiani is also serving as an executive producer alongside Robert Siegel and Jenni Konner, who are serving as co-showrunners. Rajiv Joseph and Mehar Sethi are writing the series, and Matt Shakman is set to direct. Joseph and Shakman are also executive producers on the show.
Despite a powerful and tear-inducing performance as a young man recently diagnosed with HIV in the musical about RENT-creator Jonathan Larson’s life, De Jesús has been left off of many award show lists this year, including the SAG Awards and Oscars.
Even though he didn’t get the awards recognition he deserved, we’re excited to see what De Jesús does next, and we can’t wait to watch Immigrant.
