“Everything that begins has its end.”
Élite heartthrob Manu Ríos might be on his way out.
Introduced in season four as the queer and chaotic Patrick, Ríos instantly became a standout star on Élite. Even though his character got in between fan-favorite couple Omar (Omar Ayuso) and Ander (Arón Piper), Patrick slowly got a redemption arc and managed to redeem himself with viewers.
Three seasons later, it appears that Ríos is now done with the series and won’t be returning for the seventh season of Élite. The actor explained in a video with Fotogramas:
“I believe that everything that begins has its end. As an actor, you want to do different things. Although Élite has been an incredible experience and I am very grateful for everything it has brought, there are also times when it is necessary to move on from the stage, change the page, and do other things.”
Alas, Ríos also left the door open for a potential return in the future.
“But who knows, life takes many turns. So, maybe, in another season… Who knows?” He noted. “But, for now, season six is the closure of my character.”
It should be noted that Ayuso himself left Élite after season five but will now return to the series in season seven– so there’s already a precedent of actors coming and going over the course of different seasons.
On the other hand, Ríos has landed a role in Pedro Almodóvar’s new gay western film starring Pedro Pascal and Ethan Hawke, so he might be setting his sights on the big screen for the time being.
We’ll definitely miss Patrick on Élite but wish Ríos nothing but the best!
Élite season six is streaming on Netflix.
