This is one of five new installments expected for the popular, Emmy-winning reality TV franchise.
Secure your wigs, honey, because RuPaul is about to take up all of our time in 2023!
RuPaul’s Drag Race has been dominating from the Werk Room since 2009 and catapulted the art of drag into mainstream media. Although the show is migrating over to MTV for Season 15, the media mogul also announced a new Global All Stars coming exclusively to Paramount+.
According to Entertainment Weekly, little has been revealed about what we can expect from Global All Stars, but the publication notes that the news dropped after the World of Wonder production company previously reunited international queens for RuPaul’s Drag Race UK vs. the World and Canada’s Drag Race: Canada vs. the World.
As if we don’t have enough to keep up with already between the main show, the regular U.S. All Stars editions, and the international competitions, RuPaul has three other spin-offs in the work, as well. Fans of Drag Race can keep an eye out for stunning drag from Brazil, Germany, and Mexico, which will each premiere on MTV and Paramount+ in their respective regions.
On top of the four new installments of the show, RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race was also renewed for a third season on VH1. The first two seasons have given drag makeovers to the likes of Vanessa Williams, AJ McLean, and Taylor Dayne.
“Drag Race is about universal themes of love, self-expression, and acceptance, and there has never been a more important time than now for these ideas to be expressed internationally,” said World of Wonder CEOs Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato in a statement.
Drag Race also carried on RuPaul’s winning streak as the most-decorated Black artist in Emmys history at the 2022 Television Academy’s ceremony, where the host and producer took home his 12th overall statuette.
With little information on any of the other spinoffs, fans can eagerly anticipate the return of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 15 to MTV on Friday, January 6 at 8 p.m. EST.
