The Glee alum has some thoughts about the upcoming documentary series about Fox's popular teen musical series.
GleeEntertainmentdocumentaryMey RudeFormer Glee star Kevin McHale is calling out the new Discovery+ docuseries about the show he once starred in.
Discovery+ recently released a trailer for its upcoming three-part docuseries exploring some of the tragedies that happened behind the scenes on Glee.
Many fans were upset with the trailer for the series, which many called disrespectful for seeming to compare the tragic accidental deaths of Cory Monteith and Naya Rivera to that of Mark Salling, who took his own life after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography.
Others were unhappy because in the trailer, no cast or identifiable crew members appear to talk about the show, and instead it appears to be a bunch of people who weren’t as directly involved.
In a tweet defending the series, TV critic and writer Ashley Ray said that “yes cast and crew were involved, no they are not comparing naya and cory to mark or making any similarity other than to say ‘they were all on the same show.’”
However McHale, who famously played Artie Abrams in the series, wasn’t here for that.
“Show me this ‘cast’ you speak of,” he quote tweeted. “This is [trash emoji].”
“This was the nice version, ftr,” he added. “Don’t make me speak on this again.”
Another fan posted a series of images and videos of various Glee cast members saying they want nothing to do with the docuseries.
“Are you doing the new Glee thing, the new three-episode, behind-the-scenes juicy gossip thing that they’re working on?” an interviewer asked Chord Overstreet.
“Oh, I think all that’s bullsh*t,” he replied.
Another article shows Jenna Ushkowitz, who co-hosts the Glee podcast And That’s What You Really Missed with McHale, calling out the series and saying she doesn’t want a part in it.
“I have nothing good to say so I’m not gonna say anything at all,” she said.
For those still interested in watching, The Price of Glee debuts on ID and Discovery+ on January 16.
