TelevisionEntertainmentMey RudeNicholas Galatzine is about to seduce one of the most powerful men in the world.
Galatzine who played the Prince in Amazon’s Cinderella musical and is starring as the fictional Prince Henry of Wales in the upcoming Red, White & Royal Blue adaptation, has been cast opposite Julianne Moore in AMC’s upcoming period drama Mary & George.
The series stars Moore as Mary Villiers, the 17th century Countess of Buckingham who “molded her beautiful son George (Galatzine) to seduce King James I and become his all powerful lover. Through outrageous scheming, the pair rose from humble beginnings to become one of the richest, most titled, and influential mother and sons England had ever seen.”
George Villiers was a “favourite” of King James I, also seen in the film The Favourite, which saw Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone playing rivals vying for the position of Queen Anne’s favourite (an intimate companion of a ruler or other important person). The term has often been used by historians to avoid words like “lover” or “mistress.”
The eight-part limited series is already filming in the UK and is created by DC Moore (Killing Eve, Not Safe for Work).
Galatzine is also playing a gay royal in the upcoming Amazon Prime movie Red, White & Royal Blue. The film, which also stars Taylor Zakhar Perez, is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Casey McQuiston.
It follows Alex, the Mexican-American son of the President of the United States as he falls in love with a royal in the United Kingdom. The movie has completed filming and is expected to premiere on Amazon Prime Video in 2023.
