A Big guest star is coming to And Just Like That season 2, and they’re name isn’t Mr.
Showrunner Michael Patrick King talked to Entertainment Weekly about some of the big guest stars this upcoming season, including one of our favorite nonbinary singers, Sam Smith!
King mentioned that Candice Bergen will return to her role of Vogue Editor Enid Frick this season, and feminist icon Gloria Steinem will appear as herself.
Also playing themself? Smith.
"Two days after they won the Grammy, they're on our show with a Carrie necklace that says 'Sam.' They said they and their sisters all have them," King said of Smith’s time on the show. "That is the gold of having done a show that people liked: you call Sam Smith to play this nice part that we needed, and they're like, 'Yes, cause I love the show.' That's really thrilling."
Smith had previously teased their appearance on the show back in February when they posted some pics of them in a trailer on the And Just Like That set with the caption, “up to something unholy on set.”
Smith is coming off of a huge year when they had a global number one hit and Grammy winner in “Unholy,” a duet with Kim Petras. Now, Smith is on their Gloria tour, promoting the album that “Unholy” is on.
The first teaser for the upcoming second season of And Just Like That was recently released, giving us an idea of what we can expect. One of the biggest reveals in the trailer is the return of John Corbett’s Aiden Shaw, who shows up on Carrie’s doorstep!
Season two of And Just Like That will premiere on Max in June.
