Doctor Who by way of Bridgerton?
A new image showing the new Doctor Ncuti Gatwa along with upcoming guest stars Jonathan Groff and Millie Gibson (who is playing the Doctor’s companion, Ruby Sunday) is giving us serious Victorian vibes!
While we don’t know who Groff will be playing on Doctor Who, it seems to be that he’s playing a character from the past, which makes a lot of sense for the time-traveling show. But dang, do Groff and Gatwa look great in tailcoats and breeches!

The last time we saw Groff in this type of period wear was when he played King George in Hamilton, and we definitely wouldn't mind seeing more of it!
When Groff was cast in Doctor Who, he said: “I am so thrilled to jump into the extraordinary mind of Russell T Davies and watch the incredible Ncuti Gatwa soar in this iconic role.”
Showrunner Russell T. Davies was equally excited, adding: “This is an incredible coup, and a great honor, to get such a huge star striding on to our set. So strap on your space boots, this is going to be a blast!”
The upcoming 14th season of Doctor Who is one of the most anticipated in a long time, as it introduces a new Doctor regeneration played by Gatwa. It also has some of the most exciting guest stars of any season of show, with people like Neil Patrick Harris, Yasmin Finney, and Jinkx Monsoon also having guest roles.
According to Harris, Gatwa’s Doctor will be “the first gay Doctor,” so we truly can’t wait! Maybe he’ll even get to flirt with Groff’s character!
Gatwa’s first episode will air over the Christmas season, with new episodes airing on the BBC in the UK and Ireland, and Disney+ in other markets.
