Talk about allyship!

House of the Dragon star Emma D'Arcy has been very open and public regarding their pronouns and gender identity. In an interview with E! News right before the 2023 Golden Globes, D'Arcy (who was already out as non-binary and has spoken multiple times about their pronouns being they/them), said they felt an "unsustainable" pressure to present as a woman, stating, "When I was starting out, I really felt that I had to present as a woman in order to find success in this industry. It wasn't sustainable, and I stopped pretending. And weirdly at that point, I got nominated for Best Actress for the Golden Globes, which is beautifully ironic."

That being said, it's frustrating always having to always correct reporters and journalists. But have no fear, because D'Arcy's co-star Matt Smith has joined the chat.

During a recent interview at House of the Dragon's season 2 premiere in London, star Matt Smith (who plays Prince Daemon Targaryen in the popular Game of Thrones prequel series) made sure to correct interviewer, presenter, and comedian Sue Perkins while discussing D'Arcy. During the interview itself, Perkins (who was interviewing for Sky News at the event) kept using she/her pronouns to refer to D'Arcy.

Perkins began the interview saying, "I was talking to Emma and she was talking about how amazing that end scene was... and she gave you all the credit."

After hearing the interviewer misgender D'Arcy numerous times, Smith politely continued to correct Perkins, saying, "I can't take the credit, but I have to say, aren't they brilliant?"

"They are absolutely brilliant and you're in for a real treat with Emma this year, I think Emma's put in... a really great performance." Smith added.

There is no shortage of queer talent and allies on the House of the Dragon. The cast was also joined by trans actress Abigail Thorn for the show's second season.

House of the Dragon season 2 premieres Sunday, June 16 on Max.
