Our new “queer queen.”
Rose DommuThe Bachelor is making history with its first LGBTQ+ contestant, but not everyone is happy about it. Demi Burnett was confirmed as the franchise’s first queer bachelorette in the trailer for the upcoming sixth season of Bachelor in Paradise, where’s she’s seen kissing a love interest. “I don’t care who sees this,” Burnett says in the clip. “I know that I love this girl. I’m just so happy that I found her, and I can definitely picture being with her for the rest of my life.”
On Twitter, Burnett let fans know that she is in fact a “queer queen,” and while many have voiced their support...others voted for Trump. Think about the people who watch The Bachelor, are you surprised?
One tweeter told Burnett that “queer queen” was a misleading title. “More like faggot queen,” she wrote. (Honestly, my new Twitter bio, but I digress.) The woman said she’d no longer watch the show because these days, “everything has to have a dang faggot in it and I hate it.” Well sis, did you watch season two of Big Little Lies? No faggots there! “Being gay is like seeing a black bird and a robin have sex. It’s sad that animals have more common sense than humans.
Burnett quoted the offensive tweet and asked Twitter to “do your thing,” and since the woman had her full name listed on her profile, Twitter did in fact do their thing. Within hours, they found the user’s employer. At first, Salon 7 claimed their employee had been hacked, but eventually fired her. “We do not condone any type of hate speech or behaviour in our salon, as we do our best to walk in love,” they wrote in a DM to Burnett, who shared a screenshot. The show hasn’t even begun airing and she’s already stirring up drama...maybe we stan?
