In the golden age of reboots, it seems like every beloved — and barely tolerated — show is getting a revival, usually with the original cast more than happy to return and pick up a fat paycheck. But Glee star Chris Colfer says he would not return to the show that made him a star, saying a reboot is not in the cards for him.

Glee was an incredible, life-changing experience,” he said in an interview with USA Today, but when it came to the idea of a reboot: “That’s not for me.”

Colfer invoked the words of Dolly Parton to explain his decision not to revisit Kurt Hummel. “No amount of money can take from me the memories I have of then, but no amount of money can make me go back and do it all over again.”

Instead, Colfer is focusing on his career as an author: he’s about to release A Tale of Magic, the next installment in his hit fantasy series Land of Stories. "I’ve taken a few years off [from TV] to focus on writing because it’s really taken on a life of its own and it’s really been a dream come true, but I think I’ll get back out there eventually," he said.

Despite giving a potential Glee reboot a hard pass, Colfer is still in touch with his former castmates. "Ashley Fink is my best friend, and I was texting with Jenna Ushkowitz and Amber Riley this morning," he added. "We see each other quite a bit."

But, “other than just occasional social gatherings we haven’t planned any big reunion celebrations yet,” he said. Sorry, Lea Michele!
