Oh? My god??

FX has revealed what the next season of American Crime Story will be about, and it sounds incredible. Season three of the Ryan Murphy-produced true crime anthology will explore former Pres. Bill Clinton’s mid-’90s affair with then-White House intern Monica Lewinsky, along with the media circus and impeachment trial that followed.

“This franchise re-examines some of the most complicated, polarizing stories in recent history in a way that is relevant, nuanced and entertaining,” said FX CEO John Landgraf in a press release, per The Hollywood Reporter. “Impeachment: American Crime Story will likewise explore the overlooked dimensions of the women who found themselves caught up in the scandal and political war that cast a long shadow over the Clinton presidency."

Impeachment follows two previous seasons that explored the O.J. Simpson murder case and the assassination of fashion designer Gianni Versace, which, together, won four Golden Globes and 12 Emmys. This new season will star Lady Bird and Booksmart actress Beanie Feldstein as Lewinsky, longtime Murphy collaborator Sarah Paulson as Linda Tripp, and past American Crime Story actress Annaleigh Ashford as Paula Jones. Lewinsky herself will serve as a producer, which makes this project sound all the more compelling — not to mention ethical.

“I told [Lewinsky], ‘Nobody should tell your story but you, and it’s kind of gross if they do,’” Murphy toldThe Hollywood Reporter in an interview last year. “‘If you want to produce it with me, I would love that; but you should be the producer and you should make all the goddamn money.’”

Production on Impeachment: American Crime Story will begin next February with a tentative premiere date scheduled for Sept. 27, 2020, on FX.
